The Ecoversities Alliance

"For the past 200+ years, the education system was designed to convert human beings into corporate slaves, bureaucrats and soldiers to serve the extractivist military industrial system. It continues to do this even today. Those who radically question and resist it, do so inspite of the education system, not because of it. To continually deny/ignore/obfuscate/destroy the basic tenets of nature and life requires a very specific reductionistic, scarcity-driven, de-contextualized, disembodied, monoculture mindset. This sick mindset is not an accident, this is by design. This is incentivized into the existing system, this is manifested into the physical and organizational setup, this is reinforced by a self-referencing echo chamber of justifications (eg. the world will collapse with the dominant system) and debt-traps. Just adding an additional course, extra-curricular activity, weekend workshop or more teacher training onto the existing system design is not a sufficient response to the crisis. There is an urgent need for ancient-new diverse learning systems which promote and support a powerful generation of contextually-committed leaders, new forms of knowledge production and sharing, a deeper understanding and commitment to sacred dialogue and co-creation, a localized economy, and new definitions and worldviews of the meaning of life (around success, progress, happiness, identity, etc). We need more dedicated time, space and resources for deep practice. We invite you and your friends to form an ecoversity (peoples' university) and join the Ecoversities Alliance <www.ecoversities.org>. We can no longer wait for the existing universities to change."
